My Journey Forward...
Hi there! I’m Emily Guerra, a certified Productivity Life Coach and creator of
The Productivity Flow.
I became a Productivity Life Coach to shift our society’s toxic culture around productivity and mental health. Majority of people think that being productive means being as busy as possible, having a full to-do list, leaving no personal time on the calendar, or aiming for unrealistic expectations.
But in reality, being productive is a state of mind – meaning it’s about knowing what your priorities are, letting go of negative thoughts and external interruptions, creating an action plan that aligns with your values, and having faith in your flow. Sadly though, training our mindset isn’t taught in school or the workplace.
Actually, it was my time in the pandemic that taught me…
When I graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2020, I had two options: 1) wait for the lockdown to eventually end, then continue wedding planning, or 2) stop waiting and move on.
Wedding planning was a dream I had since I was little, so when I lost my job and sight of a future career, I got really stuck. I’d also been going to therapy since I was little, though, and have kept up with it to this day. My therapist helped me realize that I needed to actually start living my post-grad life instead of sulking in a state of limbo. In hindsight, maintaining my therapy sessions throughout my life, but particularly during this time, was a huge reason I was able to get unstuck
So, I chose option 2. After earning a few online certifications, I began freelancing social media services; you can check out my biggest projects on LinkedIn. I’m proud to say that within just a couple of months, I had multiple consistent clients and a wide range of deliverables, plus had fallen in love with working for myself. That’s when I committed to optimizing my work-from-home processes and creating a sustainable biz.
Ever since December of 2020, I’ve been a self-help bookworm and have become quite passionate (obsessed?) about connecting the dots between productivity and mental health. I’ve researched, adapted, and practiced every productivity method, theory, and system you could think of, and have implemented strategies for pretty much everything I do! I also continue working through the ups and downs of my own self-empowerment journey every day – and, might I add, my therapist is very proud of how far I’ve come!
I’m grateful for this journey because it led me to my purpose. As a Productivity Life Coach, I help fellow self-employed women / women who want to start working for themselves overcome those mindset hurdles that prevent our productivity and full potential. My goal is to empower others to become their biggest supporter, and give them personalized productivity and growth mindset tools so they can achieve anything they want in life.
Moving forward, I’m beyond eager to offer clarity, motivation, examples, and realistic practices, and plan to expand The Productivity Flow into an inspiring community of badass women helping each other find their flow and fulfill their visions. I truly hope you’ll join me!
Some fun facts...
• I’m a dog mom to a Shih-tzu mix named Madonna.
She typically joins my calls, so if you work with me you’ll meet her!
• I’ve used the same organizational system in my closet since I was 10 years old.
• I’m one of those few people who was actually born & raised in Los Angeles.
• I cannot start my workday until I have my iced chai-tea latte in hand!
• I’ve been going to therapy since I was 12 years old, so I’ve spent most of my life learning a growth mindset & advocating for better mental health practices.
